Self Potrait Masks
Hi People,
Have not been blogging for some time.. so here I am, blogging away, creating entries weeks or months before today, just to make up for lost time. Been busy with work, wedding prep and my artworks.. so busy busy @ndy here is working hard... and has little time to do updates on blogspot...(what an excuse!)
Well in this entry, I want to share an experience with my Sec 3NAs. Made them start of their 2007 N Level Project early, introduced them to certain concepts of Art History, namely introducing works from Indonesia's Affandi and Picasso. Their ideas of self potraiture and Self expressionism were highlighted. The students were asked to make a mask out of paper mache and design it with the influence of Picasso and Affandis' art-styles.
2 weeks after the process of the mask-making, I had their class out in the open. They were given individual spaces and personal time around the school and use that given time to produce the design on the mask... Here personal time was crucial in this exercise, as it can help develop self realisation which helps the design process.
